The Morris family’s bathroom remodel on Parkwood Avenue was all about creating a spacious, open, and modern shower experience. With a focus on maximizing space and incorporating a unique tile design, this project resulted in a luxurious zero-threshold shower that didn’t require a wall or glass enclosure. The attention to detail and intricate tile work made this remodel both challenging and rewarding, with stunning results that transformed their bathroom into a spa-like retreat.
Zero-Threshold Shower: Expanding Space and Style
One of the most significant changes we made in the Morris family’s bathroom was relocating the door to the toilet room. By doing this, we gained extra space to create a massive walk-in shower. The result was a zero-threshold design, meaning there was no need for a wall or glass to contain the water. This created an open and expansive shower area, perfect for a modern, minimalist look.
The tile selection was both beautiful and challenging. The Morris family chose a tile from Floor & Decor called NY Soho Brick, a ceramic tile that mimics the look of real brick. The intricate tile design took time and precision, as the layout involved transitioning from a subway pattern to a vertical stack, then to a chevron, back to a vertical stack, and ending with subway again. The combination of patterns created a visually dynamic and unique shower design that was well worth the effort.
Vanity Tops: Modern and Sleek
To complement the new shower, we updated the vanity area with sleek quartz countertops and stylish vessel sinks. These new countertops provided both elegance and durability, while the vessel sinks added a modern touch that perfectly matched the overall aesthetic of the bathroom.
Lighting and Electrical: Creating a Spa-Like Atmosphere
To enhance the spa-like feel of the bathroom, we replaced the large, traditional mirrors with individual lighted mirrors above each sink. The soft, glowing light from the mirrors created a calming ambiance, making the bathroom feel like a retreat. This small but impactful change added both function and mood to the space, turning it into a personal oasis for the Morris family.
