A Large Shower Experience for the Parker Family
The Parker family on Oakview Drive wanted to update their master bathroom by removing the existing garden tub and shower to create a large, luxurious shower experience. With architectural benches that extended to the edge of the shower base, the project presented unique design challenges. However, EZ Bath delivered a solution that not only met the family’s needs but also gave the bathroom a modern, upscale look.
Shower Remodel: Expanding for Luxury
The Parker family’s goal was to replace their garden tub and traditional shower with one expansive shower that provided both comfort and elegance. We installed a Carrera Onyx shower base, offering durability and a sleek appearance. The walls were finished in Sierra Sand, adding warmth and depth to the space. One of the standout features of the shower was the architectural benches, which extended all the way to the edge of the shower base, offering both functionality and a visually striking design.
Frameless Glass Shower Enclosure: A Structural Solution
The extension of the benches posed a challenge when it came to installing the shower door, as there was no load-bearing surface to hinge the door. Our solution was to use thicker glass and a glass-on-glass hinge system, similar to what is often seen in commercial buildings. This innovative approach not only solved the structural issue but also gave the shower an impressive “wow” factor, enhancing the overall aesthetic with a frameless glass enclosure that provided a sleek, open feel.
