A 1970s Bathtub Remodel for the Miller Family

The Miller family’s home, built in the early 1970s, required a major overhaul in their bathroom to modernize and address underlying issues with the plumbing system. With cast iron drain pipes and a bell p trap hidden beneath an existing wall, this was no ordinary remodel. EZ Bath took on the challenge, delivering a beautiful, functional bathtub remodel that not only fixed the structural issues but also transformed the bathroom into a modern, stylish space.

Bathtub Remodel: Overcoming Plumbing Challenges

The first major hurdle was dealing with the home’s original cast iron pipes, which required more extensive construction work than initially anticipated. The bell p trap was located underneath an existing wall, making it necessary to remove part of the wall to access and replace the outdated plumbing. Though it added complexity to the project, it was essential to ensure that the new bathtub functioned properly and efficiently.

The customer chose a sleek BCI bathtub, paired with Arctic Ice Smooth wall panels for the surround. This combination brought a clean, modern aesthetic to the bathroom, brightening the space and making it feel more open. The bathtub was completed with a Delta Lahara shower head, valve, tub spout, and a sliding glass shower door, providing both style and functionality.

Flooring: Complementing the New Bathtub

For the flooring, the Millers opted for 12 x 24 porcelain tiles, which perfectly complemented the clean, crisp look of the new bathtub and surround. The tiles added a touch of sophistication while being durable and easy to maintain, making them an ideal choice for the bathroom.

Vanity: A Fresh and Stylish Update

In addition to the bathtub remodel, we replaced the existing vanity and cabinet with all-new fixtures. The customer selected a painted cabinet paired with a quartz countertop, giving the bathroom a sleek and modern feel. The new porcelain undermount sink added a refined touch, blending perfectly with the updated design of the room.
