Adding a Bathtub to the Taylor Family’s Bathroom

The Taylor family’s bathroom remodel on Highland Park Drive was a unique and challenging project, involving the addition of a brand-new bathtub where none existed before. Their goal was to reduce the size of their existing shower to make space for a freestanding bathtub. This required significant planning, plumbing, and a creative approach to ensure everything functioned perfectly while maintaining a seamless design.

Shower Remodel: Creating Space for a Bathtub

To make room for the new bathtub, we needed to reduce the size of the existing shower. The shower area was originally sunken, so we had to raise the floor to match the rest of the bathroom. This process required precision and careful coordination to ensure the shower remained functional and safe. The raised shower floor was completed with beautiful 12 x 36 3-D white wavy tiles, giving the shower a modern, sleek look. The texture of the tiles added depth and visual interest, making the reduced shower area feel larger and more dynamic.

Bathtub Remodel: Overcoming Plumbing Challenges

Since the original bathroom didn’t have a bathtub, installing one required significant plumbing work. We had to add both a new drain and a vent pipe to ensure the bathtub functioned properly. This process involved a lot of digging, careful planning, and collaboration with our master plumber to ensure everything was installed correctly and safely.

The bathtub the Taylors chose was a stunning freestanding acrylic tub by Signature Hardware. Its sleek, modern design fit perfectly within the newly created space, turning the bathroom into a luxurious retreat.

Tile Work: Artisanal Touches in the Shower and Bathtub Area

The Taylor family’s choice of tile added a special touch to both the shower and bathtub areas. In the shower, they selected 12 x 36 3-D white wavy tiles, which brought a modern and artistic vibe to the space. For the bathtub surround, they opted for hand-printed custom ceramic tiles in a 4 x 8 size. These tiles added a unique, personal touch that perfectly complemented the shower’s sleek design. The combination of the two tile styles created a cohesive yet distinct look, making the entire bathroom feel unified while still giving each area its own character.
