You Can Do Earth Tones, Whites and Grays Together

A lot of people when they remodel their bathroom think they have to make everything white and grey, or that everything has to be brown and creams. Where that is a simple color theory that does generally work well together, a bathroom can look really great if you mix the two up. Take the following picture above for example.

In the shower remodel, we did a white and grey marble porcelain tile and for the flooring we did a Karndean vinyl floor that has creams. In a lot of cases this wold be impossible to pull off but in this case, the wall paint color pulled everything together. The color we used was a green grey looking color called Revere by Benjamin Moore. The cabinets can be seen in the picture below:

Don't get trapped that everything has to be a certain tone and remember to look at color theory examples on the internet. We were inspired by a bathroom we saw on Houzz for this design. Pictures really help when designing your new bathroom.

Benches and Grab Bars Are Great

A lot of our customers are almost offended whenever we recommend a grab bar in a shower or bathtub. We don't recommend it because of your age, we recommend it because falls are common in the bathtub and shower area and they help prevent them dramatically. There are decorative grab bars that Delta makes. So not only do you get something that looks nice but could possible save your life.

Benches are extremely useful as well. They are a great alternative if you want to turn the bathtub into a shower. Sometimes people like to sit and let the steam clear their sinuses, you can sprain your ankle, or you could just be getting older and need to sit when you're in the shower.

The biggest issues with benches is that they are the most prominent area known for water leaks inside of a wet area. Especially in a tile shower. That is why we recommend using the Schluter system in a tile shower at all times.

New Cabinets Are Worth Every Penny

Getting new cabinets will make you want to organize your bathroom to where you don't have every cosmetic, perfume / cologne and accessory out on your vanity top. When you go with new cabinets that maximize your storage space, you are pro-longing the full bath remodel experience. There has been a lot of times when we go back into the customers house to take pictures and what was once a clutter is now immaculate. The difference is incredible.

Take advantage of tall linen cabinets where they can be put into place. Linen cabinets can add a lot more storage space and look great. Remember that a good rule of thumb is to place the tallest item in the room at the furthest wall from when you first walk in. This makes the room look bigger.

When upgrading your cabinet, don't forget to add a above the toilet cabinet and medicine cabinet. The more storage you can have in your bathroom, the better off you will be. This is a way to add storage but not take away from the overall look of the bathroom.

With new cabinets, don't be afraid to go with a nice stain grade or a modern color paint. They can really change the entire look of your bathroom.

Remodel Your Bathroom How You Like It

Remember at the end of the day, you are the one who has to live and use it on a daily basis. Don't let not only the designer talk you into something you don't want, but also family and friends influence your decision. At the end of the day, this is a big expense in your biggest investment (your home) and you are the one who needs to be happy at the end of it. If you want a walk in shower with no threshold because that's what you experienced at a hotel in the Grand Caymans, then by all means, get yourself that zero threshold.

Bathroom Remodels Are Expensive

Are you on a budget and looking for the best deal? It's best not to take any chances and look for financing options or save your money until you can afford to do it right. There is only 3 ways to save money, you can go with a cheaper product, cheaper service or both.

We don't recommend either. A cheaper product is not going to stand the test of time and in a wet area, it's destined to fail sooner rather than later. Cheaper service usually means not the most professional help and sometimes even unlicensed contractors doing the work. There is a lot of plumbing and electrical involved in full bathroom remodels. You want to make sure you are dealing with a licensed plumber and electrician.

The most expensive bathroom remodel you can ever do, is one you have to do twice.
